Former Utah offensive tackle Tyler Knaak committed to transfer to Nebraska, he announced Tuesday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Knaak was a three-star prospect out of Salt Lake City in the 2022 class.
- Knaak redshirted last year at Utah, so he has four years of eligibility remaining.
- Nebraska went 4-8 last season. The Huskers fired coach Scott Frost in September and later hired former Panthers coach Matt Rhule, signing him to an eight-year contract.
GO BIG RED!
Absolutely honored to be committed to a program with such success, history, and future. Excited for this new chapter! #GBR #thestandard #trusttheprocess @huskerfbnation @huskers @vguinta pic.twitter.com/MtC2LjLwVc

The Athletic’s instant analysis:
What the transfer means for Nebraska
The Huskers have been selective in this period of portal activity after working to reduce the roster from approximately 100 scholarship players, including 2023 newcomers, early in the spring to 85 as the summer starts. Rhule was content to stand pat, but Knaak, at 6-feet-7 and 300 pounds, was too good to overlook. He visited this week and will join the Huskers soon, adding depth at a position of need.

Nebraska returns Bryce Benhart, Teddy Prochazka and Turner Corcoran with starting experience at tackle. But Prochazka is returning from a second season-ending injury, and Corcoran is perhaps better equipped to make the move inside to guard. Knaak helps solidify the position after the Huskers lost transfer target Walter Rouse from Stanford after the 2022 season. He landed at Oklahoma. This Pac-12 transfer did not escape. — Sherman
